EPA Policy Chief Steps Down
The head of the Environmental Protection Agency's policy office, Lisa Heinzerling, is stepping down from her post and returning to her position as a Georgetown University law professor, according to an EPA spokesperson.

November 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The head of the Environmental Protection Agency's policy office, Lisa Heinzerling, is stepping down from her post and returning to her position as a Georgetown University law professor, according to an EPA spokesperson.

Heinzerling was one of the Obama's administration's most aggressive officials on global warming regulations and a major proponent of regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act. She also played a leading role at the EPA in crafting the agency's climate policies.

The EPA has recently become a target of criticism from environmentalists who say the agency has backed down on creating climate rules in an attempt to prevent political opposition.
